If one says that being a doctor he takes Viagra on a daily basis, it sure sounds funny. But it is true. This is the case with my cousin who is a Pediatrician. My cousin is a very nice jovial man nearing sixties. He and his wife Melissa have always been the favorites amongst family. They have always believed in keeping in touch with the entire extended family. Ever since I graduated from college, I have always spent Christmas vacation at their home in Washington. Even after my marriage to Nelson and the arrival of our two lovely children, this practice has continued. They are family to me.
Last Christmas as usual we went down to my cousin's place. Every year they host a thanks giving dinner inviting over twenty guests mainly their friends from neighbor hood. We spend days together preparing various traditional dishes for this. It keeps all of us busy. We get time while cooking to catch up with what is happening in each others lives.
So it was during one of the floor kneading sessions that I found Melissa laughing to herself. Wondering what the joke was, I did ask her but couldn’t get an answer. She found it too funny to be able to narrate. Later in the evening when my cousin came home we confronted him. Both he and Melissa couldn't hold it longer any more and had to spill the beans. It seems that my cousin was taking Viagra tablets daily. At this we once understood what the issue was. But my young son couldn't understand what was so funny in the joke. Well we had to sit down and explain to him what it meant. This was not all, during the party too the subject of conversation ultimately landed up with Viagra and Melissa narrated funny made up incidences of how my cousin being a doctor was chasing her in the middle of the night and all because of daily doze of Viagra. Now it did make people wonder why the doctor was at this consuming Viagra. Little did they know that Viagra is used for purposes other than sexual stimulation. Of course one thing led to another and my cousin took a detailed class explaining more about Viagra. It seemed that most of the people had misconceptions around this drug. Every one thought that using Viagra would increase the libido. My cousin explained the role of Viagra in treating erectile dysfunction and thereby setting right the functioning of the male organ and also explained the usage of this drug in other areas for treatment of arterial hyper tension control. He was taking Viagra for the purpose of controlling his hyper tension and had explained to Melissa about the other effects of Viagra.
After the explanation followed questions and answers from all. End of it people understood that Viagra does nothing to increase the libido in men but only increases the sexual stimulation which is not the same as sexual drive. Men made faces and this became another joke. Doctor's story of Viagra and the party was a huge success.
